Sister Graciela Martinez has over 40 year’s experience within the state of California in Community Organizing and Pastoral Ministry. Her vast ministerial experience on the local Parish level as well as on the Diocesan level reflects Faith put into Action. Sister also ministers in Palenque, Chiapas with Indigenous Mayan peoples, accompanying her Mayan Franciscan Sisters in the ministries.
Her teaching of Faith Formation calls for consciousness raising about the inevitable truth that we belong to each other. This requires a particular focus on the most vulnerable and marginalized in our communities. Her inspiration comes from the Gospel message of Love and Forgiveness and the teachings of Pope Francis about inclusivity, mercy and listening to each other. Sister Graciela embraces Catholic Social Teaching at its best, drawing from her Franciscan Spirituality of Goodness and Care for Creation. A quote that guides her discernment of Truth comes from Micah 6:8: “What does th Lord require of you? To act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with your God.”
